Cedar wood, lacquer ware, bronze, most probably made in Germany, 18th century
The name secretary derives from nooks and drawers hidden behind a hinged desktop. This piece of furniture was a cross between a dresser, a desk and a cabinet thanks to glazed top used to display chinaware, the capacity to close off the working surface, and big drawers in the lower part. This particular piece is lacquered with scenic images and Oriental motives.
